March 2017 – Jodi Neighbors, Community Services Director

Jodi will celebrate her 19th anniversary with The Arc of Gibson County May 2017! Jodi was nominated by her administrative staff who said, “Jodi is very caring, thorough and pays attention to detail. When staff need to improve in certain areas Jodi doesn’t just tell them, she helps them improve by showing them how. She is a great role model.”

What is your role at The Arc of Gibson County, what do you do?

Community Services Director, I supervise four administrative staff and 28 direct care staff working with individuals receiving non-24 hour care either living on their own or living with their family. Some responsibilities in my position include doing budgets, monitor service satisfaction, report on monthly performance, audits, new consumer interviews, problem solving, trainings, ensure that we are following state regulations and guidelines, and I’m also a certified instructor for AHA First Aid/CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention).

What brought you to The Arc of Gibson County?

A group of consumers would regularly come into the place were I was worked and I always enjoyed interacting with them so I decided I would apply for a job with the organization.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy having the opportunity to see those we work with become more independent and witness them accomplishing their goals.

Who’s your role model?

I have a few but I think I will go with my grandmother.

What’s one thing not many people know about you?

I lived in Alaska when I was a child.

What have you gained from working at The Arc of Gibson County?

Knowledge and after almost 19 years I continue to learn new things all the time.

What’s your favorite memory from The Arc of Gibson County?

There are so many… I really enjoy seeing those we serve enjoying the dances and other events.

Treat consumers with respect, dignity, and compassion. Do your best! You are making a difference everyday!
