November 2016 – Mary Hamilton, Living Options
Mary has been with The Arc of Gibson County since March 2013 and was nominated by her boss Jodi Neighbors. Jodi gave many reasons for nominating Mary including that “Mary is very well liked by all consumers and their families, who often request her. She is always willing to help when needed and works with the consumers best interest in mind.”
When asked how Mary demonstrates helpfulness to co-workers, consumers and the community Jodi said “Mary follows policies and provides quality services to our consumers and individuals served in homes in our community. She is very respectful to consumers and their families, staff and her co-workers.”

What’s your role at The Arc of Gibson County, and what do you do?
My role at The Arc is care giver, friend, nurse, chef, lunch buddy, housekeeper, hand holder, bathroom specialist, handyman or chauffeur. This role changes with the day / persons need.
What brought you to The Arc of Gibson County?
My mother-in-law works for The Arc. She told me I would like it, so I gave it a try!
What do you like most about your job?
I love all the individuals I get to spend my days with. I never feel like I’m going to “work”, just going to spend time with amazing people and make their day a little better and easier.
Who’s your role model?
I’d have to say Ellen DeGeneres would be one of my role models. She is funny, kind and courageous.
What’s one thing not many people know about you?
I’m related to many people throughout the company.
What’s your favorite thing about working at The Arc of Gibson County?
I love making someone smiled and I get to do that most days!
What have you gained from working at The Arc of Gibson County?
I’ve gained knowledge and understanding for individuals with special needs.

What’s your favorite memory from The Arc of Gibson County?
Watching everyone dance and the girls get their hair done at prom a few years ago.
